Coaching & Leadership Development

In partnership with local schools and educational institutions

HFA delivers sports programming directly within schools across Los Angeles County. These programs create consistent, accessible opportunities for students to stay active, build confidence, and develop skills through sport in an environment close to home.

We design flexible programming to meet the needs of each school community: from ongoing weekly after-school practices to seasonal clinics and tournaments that introduce new sports and increase participation.

Developing local coaches and community leaders

HFA trains and supports local coaches who lead sports programming across schools and community spaces. Our coaching pipeline is built to create long-term leadership pathways through training, mentorship, and hands-on experience.

We believe the strongest programs are led by people from the communities they serve, which is why we invest in developing coaches from within those communities.

Community Events

Bringing communities together through sport

HFA designs and hosts community sports events that bring schools, families, and partners together. These events celebrate youth participation and create shared experiences through sport across Southeast Los Angeles.

What We Offer:

After-School Classes

Our after-school programs serve more than 3,000 students in Downey, El Monte, Whittier, Compton, and nearby communities, offering free or low-cost opportunities right in their neighborhoods. By partnering with local schools and holding practices directly on campus after the school day ends, we remove barriers like transportation—making it easier for kids to stay active, receive support, and build meaningful connections in a safe, familiar environment.

Game Days

Game days and tournaments are when everything comes together: players get to compete, celebrate their progress, and represent their teams. These events bring out families, friends, and the local community to cheer, connect, and enjoy the energy of youth sports in action.

Clinics

Our sports clinics provide focused skill-building sessions designed to help players improve quickly in a fun, supportive environment. Perfect for all skill levels, clinics offer expert coaching in a shorter, intensive format.

HFA partners with schools, districts, and educational partners to deliver accessible, on-site sports training that builds skills, leadership, and community.
