Role
Every practice is an opportunity to help young people grow. As an HFA coach, you'll create a safe, encouraging environment where participants can develop skills, confidence, and character through sport.
Lead after-school practices
Teach age-appropriate skills
Mentor youth
Support assistant coaches
Set up equipment
Communicate with families

Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Coaching practices for TK-8 students at assigned campuses across LA County.
Utilizing HFA coaching curriculum.
Mentoring volunteer assistant coaches from local high schools and colleges.
Setting up and cleaning up practice environment.
Maintaining communication with HFA staff.
Attending required staff meetings, trainings, and professional development sessions.

Monday–Friday
Approximately 2:00 PM – 5:30 PM
Part-time after-school coaching
Your schedule depends on the assigned school site. Once assigned to a school, coaches are expected to work their scheduled practices on a recurring basis for the duration of that program or season, following the partner school’s academic calendar.
Additional opportunities to attend trainings and community events occur throughout the year.

Age: Must be 18+
Background Check: Required before employment.
Training & Certifications: TB, CPR, Mandated Reporter, etc.
Transportation: Reliable transportation required.
Physical Requirements: Comfortable working outdoors and participating in sports.

HFA coaches are compensated for both coaching assignments and professional development opportunities. Starting rates are listed below:
Coaching Assignments (Practices & Game Days): $22/hour starting rate
Trainings, Meetings & Professional Development: $18/hour
