MEET OUR NEW PROGRAM COORDINATORS

November 10, 2022

We are proud to formally introduce Camille Hernandez (soccer) and Miguel Ceja (basketball) as HFA's newest Program Coordinators. With their extensive experience coaching in our program, these two young leaders exemplify HFA's sustainability model of developing an internal staff who give back to their respective communities.

Camille Hernandez attended Gallatin Elementary School, Doty Middle School, and Downey High School, where she played soccer. In her junior year, she joined HFA as one of our first volunteer coaches. During this time, she impressed our organization with her responsibility and ability to click with the young students. She went on to pursue a Bachelor's Degree in Animal Science and a minor in Chicano Studies from UC Davis, where she graduated this spring. This summer, she returned to Downey and became a coaching director with HFA. As the summer approached its end and we offered her the role of Soccer Program Coordinator, she did not hesitate to accept.

Miguel Ceja was one of our first basketball coaches when we kicked off the program in 2019. He played while attending Doty Middle School and Downey High School, then pursued a degree in Kinesiology at California State University, Long Beach. In his second year of studying, he joined our team as a coaching director and quickly impressed our staff with his confident leadership skills on the court. Like Camille, Miguel graduated this spring. As the Basketball Program Coordinator, he manages all basketball coaches and completes our management team.
