Home Field Advantage (HFA) was honored to receive the USTA SoCal 2025 Service Award for Los Angeles, recognizing the organization's commitment to expanding access to sport and strengthening communities through local leadership.

Founded in 2016 by friends and family, HFA began in Downey with a vision of using soccer to create connection, improve health, and increase opportunity for young people. Basketball was introduced in 2019, followed by tennis in 2022, a sport that has traditionally been less accessible in many of the communities HFA serves. What started in Downey has since expanded to include after-school tennis programming in El Monte, Whittier, and Compton.

As the organization's tennis programming continued to grow, HFA coaches gathered in 2023 to reflect on a simple question: What is a community sports club?

Their answer became a guiding philosophy: a club for all, welcoming people of every age, ability, and experience level, and creating opportunities for everyone to play.

Today, the HFA Tennis Club has grown from a small group of coaches into a thriving community. Nearly 50 adults participate in weekly social play, alongside youth and adult classes and Junior Team Tennis (JTT) teams that provide meaningful pathways for players to learn, develop, and compete.

More than a recreational program, the HFA Tennis Club has become a place where neighbors build friendships, stay active, and discover a lifelong love of the game. HFA believes that tennis is social, healthy, and fun, and that it should be accessible to everyone.

The USTA SoCal Service Award reflects not only HFA's continued growth but also the dedication of its coaches, volunteers, members, and participants who have helped build an inclusive tennis community. Home Field Advantage extends its sincere gratitude to USTA Southern California for its continued support and partnership in making the sport more accessible throughout the region.
